I loved my one-night stay in Pen-y-cae. The room with mountain views was newly remodeled, quiet, and had central heating, an electronic key card, and a work desk. The location was excellent and perfect in a beautiful area, close to the Brecon Beacons and the South Wales coast, the castle, and Penderyn distillery. The food they offered was amazing, with lots of options. I truly enjoyed staying here, nothing was too much trouble.

The hotel is ideally situated and offers a brilliant pub with a beer garden. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the owners make guests feel very welcome. Excellent communication, locally sourced food, and a dog-friendly atmosphere make for a pleasant stay. The pub has a cozy feeling with a log burner, and the food is delicious, particularly the garlic mushrooms and beef & Stilton pie. Despite being near a main road, the rooms are quiet, ensuring a restful sleep.
The room could benefit from a makeover and some improvements such as a dressing table mirror and rugs on the hard floor to create a warmer atmosphere.
